Amelia Kingston – Kin

29 January, 2024

“Kin” delicately explores identity and belonging through the artistry of Kantha stitching. The piece interweaves the fragments of my home, my children’s essence, and the threads of our daily lives, creating a vibrant tapestry of shared experiences. Inspired by “let all that you do be done in love,” the act of stitching transforms into a metaphorical gesture, binding us to our roots and forming a visual narrative of familial connection. Each fabric piece, sourced from our clothes and sheets, carries the imprints of our lived moments, intricately intertwining our stories into a harmonious whole. “Kin” stands as a testament to enduring ties that connect us to our past, joyously celebrating the beauty found in both ordinary and extraordinary moments of domestic life.
