Divina Spem – Olive Monte

24 February, 2020

Divina Spem, latin for ‘Divine Hope’ is an allusion to God’s covenant with Abraham. Man’s challenge in this life is have Hope, yet uphold the conditions for behaviour set by God as in Micah 6:8. His request is straightforward, but in a world of temptation and suffering, it is easy for humans to forget God’s promise and instead prioritise corruption and self-importance. Divina Spem explores stripping away man’s ego, and prompts reflecting on the Lord’s simple instructions and seeing beyond our own darkness to a forthcoming world of Peace. Divina Spem symbolises God’s judgement, but celebrates the triumphing, divine Hope that He will bless us with if we remember to live humbly as He asked.
