I So loved My Daughter That I Gave Her to the World – Coral Richards
A naive doll shape, but a doll that is well made. The wood was grown in my garden, harvested, sanded, connected together with jute. The doll’s clothing is Japanese paper and wool, blue as Mary is represented in Medieval art. The piece has a small carbon footprint. The shape of the doll was inspired by Albert Giacometti’s Walking Man, with the long stride and fine leg structure. Mine is a walking daughter. Because we are made in the image of God, God is a doll also made of wood, however this is drift wood, with lichen and the head is seagrass from the beach, a more nature based doll representing the ancientness of our God. Pearl beads represent wisdom. The bag shows green intent.
