Lex – Sally West

About 17 years ago I moved to a small surf town on the mid north coast. My husband and I bought a little fibro house and had a couple of children. As the children grew up we were always in the backyard. I felt like I was always pushing them on the swing. It was happy times. Lex was my neighbour and we used to discuss gardening over the back fence. He was older than me and I assumed he was retired. When my mother in law came to visit she recognised him as an old friend. I learnt that he was in fact a catholic priest. Lex’s friendship had meant to so much to me. I felt he was so kind and warm. Always humble. I felt quite alone in the small coastal town with small children. He was a good friend
