Tjala tjukurpa – Ronnie Allen
Ronnie has responded to Micah 6:8 with a depiction of tjala tjukurpa (honey ant dreaming). Tjala tjukurpa is a far-reaching story that traverses country in a loop, beginning and ending in South Australia. The figures are interchangeable between honey ants and humans as we are all one. The figures, or honey ants, move towards God, gathering at waterholes as they travel through country. Each figure shines, representing the love and light of God as they experience spiritual enlightenment. Through Ronnie’s work, we can see that the interplay between Anangu and Christian spirituality has become an indelible aspect of community history and identity.
