Artist Statement

The gold leaf in my artwork signifies many things – reflection, the light of God, but also wealth, grandeur and prosperity. We are made in the image and likeness of God, but what of the people who have lost their way, who live in darkness? They, like my artwork, seem to blur into the distance of not having a voice, of being there but not seen. In the anxiety of modern life, this subtle but accepted silence is felt by many. Perhaps, when we walk alongside our beliefs rather than feeling below them, the words of Micah ring true; to portray kindness we must recognise all life must be treated justly and kindly by others, as they are by your God, regardless of one’s prosperity or faith.
